Anchor Privacy Policy

Anchor is an iOS app for tracking tax residency, money snapshots, and optional alcohol-free or cigarette-free goals. This policy explains what data Anchor collects, how it is used, and how you can delete it.

Data We Collect

When you use Anchor, we may collect and store:

Data Kept on Your Device

Money account names, balances, currencies, and snapshots stay in protected storage on your device. Sobriety goal types and start dates or times also stay in protected storage on your device. Anchor does not upload or sync either dataset, including when you sign in. These stores are excluded from Apple device and iCloud backups.

You can export all money snapshots as a readable PDF or CSV file. The file goes only to the location or service you select and is no longer protected by Anchor after export. Anchor does not receive exported or imported files.

Photos and Location

Photo prefill and live location tracking are optional. Precise photo metadata and precise device location are processed on your device to infer country/date records. Anchor does not store precise GPS coordinates on the backend for the tax residency feature. If you accept a suggestion or enable live tracking, country-level facts and trip dates may be saved locally and synced to the backend.

How We Use Data

We use collected data to provide app functionality: calculating residency summaries, storing tax residency records on your device, and, if you choose to sign in, authentication, syncing tax residency records across your devices, and restoring tax residency cloud data. Anonymous country support requests and rules feedback are used to prioritize and improve country-rule coverage. We do not sell your data and do not use it for cross-app tracking or targeted advertising.

Where Data Is Stored

Anchor stores data on your device using Apple platform storage. Signing in is optional. When you sign in, tax residency data is synced to Anchor's backend at zhoravasyan.com. Backend records are keyed by your Anchor account ID. Authentication uses your email address and password. Money and sobriety records remain local.

Third-Party Services

Anchor does not use a third-party authentication provider for email/password sign-in. When you request password recovery, Google's Gmail SMTP service transports the recovery and confirmation emails and processes the recipient address and delivery metadata for that purpose.

To display converted money totals, the app may send snapshot dates and currency codes to Anchor's unauthenticated exchange-rate endpoint. It never sends balances, account names, sobriety data, or an account token for this request. The backend may cache public exchange-rate tables independently of any user.

Retention and Deletion

We keep account and tax residency cloud data until you delete it or request deletion. In the app, open Account and choose Delete account and cloud data to delete cloud tax records, clear this device's saved data, and delete the signed-in account. You can choose Sign out to disconnect tax residency sync while keeping local data on this device.

Anchor provides informational counters, summaries, and population-level research context. It does not diagnose a condition, confirm an individual health outcome, or replace medical care. It is not legal, tax, accounting, immigration, financial, or medical advice. Confirm decisions with an appropriately qualified professional.
